GridLiance Makes Leadership Changes, Moves Headquarters

GridLiance today announced that J. Calvin Crowder has been named President & CEO and Alison Zimlich has been named Chief Financial Officer.

Crowder brings 25 years of electric utility industry experience to GridLiance, including expertise developing long-term transmission expansion, regulatory and legislative approval plans, as well as strong relationships with Regional Transmission Organization officials and state and federal regulators.

Prior to joining GridLiance in 2016, Crowder served in roles of increasing responsibility at American Electric Power (AEP), one of the largest electric utilities in the U.S. Most recently, he served as President of Electric Transmission Texas, LLC (ETT). As President of ETT, Crowder led the establishment of AEP’s first transmission joint venture, with Berkshire Hathaway Energy, and its growth to $3 billion in assets. Prior to AEP, he held a variety of executive and policy leadership roles at Central and South West Corporation (CSW).

Zimlich joins GridLiance as Chief Financial Officer after serving as CFO for the past four years at Panda Power Funds, during which time she oversaw the financial functions and reporting of the firm’s portfolio of 6-gigawatts of gas-fired power generation facilities in Texas, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Previously, Zimlich spent 17 years at AES Corporation, where she served in a variety of finance and business development roles, including CFO for AES’s North America Generation division, which produced revenues of $1.5 billion in the United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico. She started her career with EY (formerly Ernst & Young, LLP). Zimlich is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Financial Executives International.

In other news, the company also announced it will move its headquarters to Dallas, Texas and it has consolidated the development team under the leadership of Senior Vice President Justin M. Campbell, who has been named Chief Development Officer. Also, GridLiance’s regulatory policy, compliance, communications and information technology teams will now be consolidated into a single new department led by Trent A. Carlson, who has been named Vice President, Regulatory and Corporate Services.

Campbell joined GridLiance in 2017 after a stint with Edison International, where most recently, he was Vice President of Edison Transmission, LLC, a subsidiary formed to pursue opportunities in transmission nationwide. He also held roles in Edison International’s strategic planning group and in Southern California Edison’s Transmission and Distribution Business Unit.

Carlson joined GridLiance in 2014 as Vice President – Regulatory and Compliance, after serving as a vice president for nearly four years at JP Morgan and nearly 10 years as a vice president at Reliant Energy, Inc. Before joining Reliant, Carlson also served as a director of Operations Support and Training at the California Independent System Operator.
