Asheville, N.C., faces weeks-long recovery after Tropical Storm Helene damages water system

(UI) — Tropical Storm Helene has caused significant damage to Asheville’s water system, impacting treatment facilities and water distribution infrastructure both underground and above, according to WITN.
The storm also washed out roads, making it difficult for crews to access certain areas for repairs. While city officials are working on restoring the system, they warn that it could take several weeks before services are fully back online, according to WITN.
Asheville, home to approximately 94,000 residents, is grappling with the extent of the damage as repairs progress.
