Topcon, Amberg launch integrated solutions for tunnel construction and surveying
FRANKFURT, Germany (UI) — Topcon Positioning Systems and Amberg Technologies have announced a new collaboration focused on advancing digital tools for tunnel construction and underground infrastructure projects.
The companies unveiled the partnership at INTERGEO 2025 in Frankfurt, introducing fully integrated solutions designed to improve measurement accuracy, efficiency, and workflow integration across tunneling applications.
The collaboration enables interoperability between Topcon’s positioning and automation technologies and Amberg’s tunnel and rail measurement systems. This integration allows engineers to use both companies’ platforms seamlessly for tasks such as tunnel profiling, alignment, and volumetric analysis — reducing data transfer errors between systems.
“Railways and tunnel infrastructure projects present unique measurement and construction challenges that require highly specialized solutions,” said Ivan Di Federico, president and CEO of Topcon Positioning Systems. “By working with Amberg Technologies, we are ensuring that our shared customers can connect Topcon’s positioning technologies with Amberg’s purpose-built rail and tunnel systems for truly comprehensive project workflows.”
Felix Amberg, president and owner of Amberg Group, added that the partnership builds on Topcon’s strengths in robotics and machine guidance: “Leveraging what Topcon has already developed, as well as collaboratively developing new solutions not available in the market, will represent a tremendous step forward for the growing underground market.”
The companies said the collaboration responds to global infrastructure challenges — including rapid urbanization, aging tunnels, labor shortages, and tight construction schedules — by promoting automation and digitalization in underground construction.

Topcon and Amberg said their integrated systems will support contractors and engineers in improving precision, reducing rework, and streamlining data management in tunnel excavation and maintenance projects.
