MVP celebration approaches sell-out
(UI) — Houston-based underground infrastructure contractor Mark L. Boyer has been selected as the Most Valuable Professional of the underground industry for 2025. He has been serving the Texas and surrounding states’ markets for almost 40 years.
Boyer is the CEO of Boyer Inc., a company that has become a cornerstone of Houston’s infrastructure development. Under his leadership, the company has become known for its commitment to quality and innovation and its ability to deliver some of the most challenging projects to the public sector. Under Boyer’s leadership, the tagline in their logo “Contractors, Engineers, Inventors” has truly been achieved.
Boyer will be formally honored at a special luncheon on March 4, 2025, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, in conjunction with the annual Underground Infrastructure Conference (UIC). The award is co-sponsored by the Underground Construction Technology Association (UCTA) and Underground Infrastructure magazine.
Robert Carpenter, editor-in-chief of Underground Infrastructure magazine, observed that “Mark Boyer started his company nearly 40 years ago. As Mark’s construction instincts and genius continued to grow the company at a rapid pace, subsequent impacts on the underground construction industry have been equally phenomenal. It’s not surprising the annual MVP Luncheon is approaching a sellout – the industry wants to celebrate their good friend.”
A native Houstonian, Boyer followed in his father and grandfather’s footsteps and entered the electrical trade as an apprentice electrician in 1978. In 1986, during a challenging period for Houston's oil-dependent economy, Mark and his mother founded Boyer Inc. Initially established as an electrical construction company, Boyer Inc. quickly evolved into a unique and adaptable civil contractor, offering a diverse range of services to the Houston area.
His extensive background, strong leadership skills, and deep understanding of construction concepts have enabled Boyer, Inc. to successfully develop projects across federal, state, county, city and private sectors throughout the Gulf Coast Region. Boyer works closely with owners, engineers and city officials while managing project costs from estimating through to completion.
His hands-on approach and vast experience allow him to effectively navigate the complexities of large-scale construction projects. As a dynamic and highly motivated leader, he is committed to delivering a personal and exceptional customer service experience for his clients. He also strives to create a rewarding working environment for his team, both of which have been significant factors in Boyer’s success.
Under Boyer leadership, the company’s operations have grown significantly and now employ over 200 skilled professionals. Boyer Inc. has a full-scale maintenance and fabrication facility situated on 18 acres in Northwest Houston. This expansion of in-house services enables the company to self-perform over 95 percent of all projects. The facility not only allows for excellent cost control but also enables Boyer to invent, engineer and manufacture tools, ensuring that projects run smoothly.
Mark Boyer has received numerous patents which improve the efficiency of the construction operations, leading to more economical proposals for the public benefit. Throughout his career, Boyer has been actively involved in professional organizations that influence the construction industry, holding leadership roles with the Underground Construction Technology Association/Gulf Coast Chapter, Houston Contractors Association and Independent Electrical Contractors.
He was a founding member of Texas Water Infrastructure Network “TXWIN” a 501(C)(6) trade association based in Austin, Texas, which works directly with the Texas Legislature, funding and regulatory agencies, political subdivisions, and other industry groups to represent and promote the interests of all Texas businesses involved in Texas water construction markets.
