North Dakota Town Gets $1.2 Million for Sewer Project

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded more than $1.2 million to the city of Fargo.
The money is to help protect the city’s wastewater treatment plant from flooding.
The grant is part of FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and will cover 75 percent of the cost to flood-proof the plant. Sen. John Hoeven says the grant will provide wet weather flow relief for the Broadway Interceptor Sanitary Sewer Overflow, to help minimize the risk of a sewer backup.
Hoeven says the funds will help keep Fargo residents healthy and safe in the event of a flood.
U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer says that to date, Fargo’s wastewater treatment plant has received more than $16.2 million in federal funds for flood protection.
