Verizon deploys over 200 miles of fiber in Delaware six months ahead of schedule
(UI) – Six months ahead of schedule, Verizon is bringing more choices for customers in Delaware as it completes its deployment of high-speed broadband internet service across the state. Nearly 2,000 homes and businesses in Camden, Dover, Smyrna, Bridgeville and Ocean View now have access to high-speed internet. Over 200 miles of fiber – the equivalent of running fiber between Rehoboth Beach and NYC – were deployed in connection with the build.
Verizon’s 100% fiber network delivers award-winning Fios broadband service with no data caps.
The project was done with over $6 million in funding provided as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP).
“We applaud Governor Carney and his team for their leadership in establishing a robust broadband program in Delaware,” said Eric Fitzgerald Reed, Public Policy & State Government Affairs for the DE, PA and NJ Region at Verizon. “Verizon is focused on delivering broadband internet services and this partnership expands high-speed broadband access to thousands of residents and will better connect our communities.”
Verizon Communications Inc. was formed on June 30, 2000 and is one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services. Headquartered in New York City and with a presence around the world, Verizon generated revenues of $136.8 billion in 2022.
